Boroondara Sports Complex is launching the UFIT All Abilities gym program this September!
The Universal Fitness Innovation and Transformation (UFIT) program is a global fitness project that aims to provide more fitness opportunities for people with disabilities.
The 12-week group personal training program will commence Monday 5 September and will offer weekly group functional fitness classes for people with additional needs.
What’s on offer?
- functional fitness class for people with additional needs every Monday;
- tailored exercise programming delivered in a group setting
- access to YMCA’s UFIT qualified personal trainer experts.
Who can participate?
The UFIT functional fitness gym program is designed to cater to all abilities.
This includes adults aged 18+ with a:
- physical disability;
- intellectual disability;
- vision impairment;
- chronic health condition;
- other additional needs.
Classes are structured to provide participants with exposure to a range of functional movement exercises to assist in improving strength, mobility, and physical fitness.
Participants are required to complete a 30-minute pre-exercise screening and induction with one of YMCA’s expert instructors to ensure classes are tailored to meet the needs of individuals prior to program participation.

For people living with a disability, group exercise or physical activity can provide a variety of ongoing benefits, these include the following:

- reduce the risk of chronic conditions;
- improve social interaction in the community;
- release of endorphins during exercise;

- improve overall mood and quality if life.

Cost: $15.60 per session
Bookings: Please use links provided below in program bookings to secure your space. Limited spaces available. Bookings are essential.
Pre-Exercise Screening (REQUIRED):
All participants must complete a pre-exercise screening and induction with a qualified YMCA personal trainer prior to attending their first UFIT session. Participants are also required to provide medical clearance to participate in the UFIT program.
Pre-screening and induction sessions are available between Monday – Saturday at Boroondara Sports Complex and will take 30 minutes to complete. Please call Boroondara Sports Complex on (03) 9851 0444 to book your induction.

Program bookings
All classes will take place at Boroondara Sports Complex and will be capped at 10 participants per class.
Spaces are limited. Bookings close 48 hours prior to session date.
